Being a 20-year-old woman in the age of technology, I went to twitter to see what they think justice means... many twitter users are using the hashtag, #justice in their tweets to express how they feel about Sandra Bland, and #BlackLivesMatter... justice for them right and only them because of their skin tone.
Well, I pulled some tweets from users, I'll list them below..
-JaiJakJayMOM with her handle @XoXo__Her said: "R.I.P babe :'( .. this touched me the most bc it could've been me #SANDRABLAND #JUSTICE followed by an instagram post..
-N B K with her handle @hannahhipley said: "RP my last tweet so you can see my uncle's death by police brutality was also ruled suicide #SandraBland #justice
-Princeton with this handle @PeacePunkPrince said: Rest in peace #SandraBland something needs to change in the world, or people are going to start changing it for themselves, #Justice
| 28-year-old woman, who spoke out on police brutality, using the hashtag #sandyspeaks |
If I am correct, they used a noose on anyone who broke the law, whether you were white or black. Black Americans have had it rougher than most in the history of this country. But does that give them the reason to act out, feel entitled? It shouldn't.
The media has spun so many things out of proportion, all we see is #BlackLivesMatter and Black Americans receiving police brutality. But Bland did not receive brutality when arrested, not in the case of where she was beaten and shot. When the report came out about her death, they found high levels of marijuana and as many as 30 cut marks on her wrists.

Her family claims she wasn't depressed, or wasn't on any medication that they were aware of. But marijuana is a depressant, and cutting her wrists is a form of release due to depression. On her paperwork she was she was depressed and tried to commit suicide after having a miscarriage a year ago, but on another portion of paperwork it said no to attempted suicide. Her paperwork was not consistent. She hung herself after spending three days in jail.
the reason why she was arrested because she was irritated with a police officer, would not put out her cigarette - could've been marijuana, there was strong language exchanged and then she was arrested.

How do we provide justice for someone who knows there is police brutality, but yet spoke with disrespect, acted upon hatred? What Bland did was become another statistic, more fuel to the fire. Follow the law, speak words of kindness, be patient. I do not sympathize for her, I do not sympathize for baltimore's Freddie Gray or any of the other cases. The reason being, they were acting dangerous and not following the law in the first place.
Recently, my family was pulled over for speeding back from vacation a couple weeks ago, my dad was driving we were going 15 over the speed limit. The police man was doing his job, being strict and enforcing the law and asking the questions he had to because of protocol. My dad could've been rude, could've not followed his instructions, but he didn't- he did exactly what officer wanted him to. My dad is still alive, did not experience brutality. And no you can't say it's because we are white. It's because he did what he was suppose to do, well other than speeding.
I guess no one can be just, until we all start treating each other with respect, with humanity. Justice is in the eyes of the beholder. If you want justice, be moral, be right, don't break the law.
